The Hall

Hazelwood Hall dates back to the 1840s, when the prosperous Leonard Willan employed architects Websters of Kendal to build a grand family residence in classical villa style. It remained a grand home to many wealthy families until being bequeathed to the Roman Catholic Church around 1950 when it was utilised as a hospital by The Order of St John. In 1967 it passed to the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of The Apostles, who put this fine building to work as a convent and religious retreat. In 1986 it became a nursing home before being acquired by Pringle Homes of Preston in 2006.
